Nature Quest Arizona
Nature Quest Arizona provides a database of “nature quests,” educational treasure-hunts featuring map-following games and learning opportunities. Nature Quest Arizona is a subsidiary of Be Outdoors Arizona (another Z-Com Creative nonprofit site), and is that organization’s first tangible deliverable.
Registered users can submit their nature quest files – map, photo and description – for moderation by the website’s manager. Once approved, the quest then appears on a clickable Google map as well as in the search engine. Quests are also searchable by various criteria – categories, duration and difficulty. Quests can then be commented on and ranked by registered users, which affects each quest’s placement in search results.
Registered site users can currently track quests they have completed, and bookmark quests that may interest them in the future.
Because Nature Quest Arizona is part of BOA, it shares many design elements with BOA’s website. Content is in fact shared between the sites, so that visitors to BOA are informed of new quests, and Nature Quest Arizona visitors can learn more about BOA (and hopefully pay for a membership).
Z-Com Creative is now working on Phase 2 of Naturequestaz.org. Registered site users will be able to earn points for completing quests, and by doing so win prizes and other materials from Be Outdoors Arizona or the quest provider.
